Pitsunda is taken over by Russia without asking the Abkhaz people...

The so-called "independence" of separatist Abkhazia and its "recognition" by Russia, which occupied these Georgian territories, is a complete fiction. In reality, the Russian Federation has full control over this territory. Moreover, Russia at any time can include any part of Abkhazia, or all of it into its territory without showing any interest to the opinion of Abkhazians. And the separatist authorities will approve such annexation at any moment in fact, as long as they are asked. But in the future they may not ask, but are simply confronted with the fact.

This conclusion can be drawn from the fact that a decision has already been made to extend jurisdiction of the Russian Federation to the greater part of the resort town of Pitsunda, namely, to the area of state residences, where in Soviet times the Soviet senior Communist Party leadership used to spend their holidays.

In principle, the separatist war in Abkhazia was prepared and carried out partly because the former Soviet functionaries in Moscow and the Russian leaders who replaced them did not want to lose the best Black Sea resorts, including Pitsunda. The fact that former government dachas, where the Moscow top brass liked to holiday in the Crimea would finally come under the Ukrainian ownership, and in Abkhazia - Georgia, was not acceptable to these circles. Here the Kremlin bosses quickly found common ground with the Armenian lobby that firstly needed precedents for its "miatsum" and secondly needed "coastal Armenia" in place of the Georgian Abkhazia.

And as a result, the Kremlin began to implement scenarios of fomenting separatism and redrawing of borders in order to keep the "beloved coast" under its control. Georgians in Abkhazia, Crimean Tatars and Ukrainians in Crimea were considered "disloyal" and "superfluous". For the sake of the prospects of "preserving the summer holiday traditions of the Moscow elite" thousands of people were killed and hundreds of thousands became refugees. Moreover, for the sake of this "resort greatness" blood is still shed in Ukraine, where, let us recall, everything began with the annexation of the resort Crimea.

Recently it became known that Russia insists on the speedy transfer of the 186-hectare complex of state summer residences in the unique Pitsunda-Musseri reserve (where there is a relict grove of pitsunda pine) from the puppet separatist Abkhazia into its ownership. This issue was raised with the puppets in Sukhumi 12 years ago in 2010. It was supposed then that in gratitude for "recognition" separatist Abkhazia would transfer part of its territories to the Russian Federation as its direct jurisdiction.

Back then the Kremlin was flirting with the separatists, and so when there was discontent in the Abkhazian society about the transfer of lands of the best Abkhazian resort, the issue was put on hold. Then came annexation and "development" of the Crimea and eventually the Kremlin did not insist on full appropriation of Pitsunda. But now, by all appearances, they want to decide the issue once and for all.

The issue of transfer of the Pitsunda State Dacha was again updated with the appearance of a new text of the so-called Agreement between the Government of the "Republic of Abkhazia" and the Government of the Russian Federation on the transfer of the property on the territory of Abkhazia and the order of its use dated 19 January 2022 into the ownership of the Russian Federation. The subject of this agreement is the transfer of the complex of state dachas in Gagra, Musser and Pitsunda located on the territory of the Pitsunda-Musser Biosphere Reserve.

On July 7th 2022 the issue of transfer of the Pitsunda Dacha into the ownership of the Russian Federation was discussed in the separatist "parliament" at an expanded meeting of the so-called "committee for international and inter-parliamentary relations and relations with compatriots". As a result, it was decided to submit the draft "intergovernmental agreement" on the transfer of Pitsunda to Russia for consideration at the next session of the "parliament" without legal review and hearings on this resonant issue. Journalists were not allowed to attend this meeting either and it was held behind closed doors.

It is already clear that neither Abkhazian society nor Abkhazians themselves will be asked about the actual annexation of Pitsunda by Russia. In fact, annexation of the best piece of Abkhazian territory in terms of resort facilities is taking place. The Russian Federation, without even informing the Abkhazian public and without organizing expert assessments and discussions, is simply taking Pitsunda for itself and the separatist puppets will obediently approve this decision.

Aggression in Ukraine showed how the Kremlin wipes its feet on international law, even when it concerns all recognised sovereign states. What can we say about separatist quasi-states that emerged and exist only at the whim of the Kremlin? They are still formally "asked" about Pitsunda and will not be asked any more.

The war in Ukraine is now clearly dragging on. The Russian Federation can no longer control the entire Black Sea coast of Ukraine (as it had hoped at the beginning of the aggression), and Crimea is in fact also under attack. But Moscow's top brass really wants to have "their posh dachas" on the Black Sea for recreation.

Therefore, it seems to have been decided to bring Pitsunda, which was still loved by Soviet Communist Party bosses, under direct Russian jurisdiction as soon as possible. So that "thieving beggars from among the separatist puppets do not get in the way". Well, if the Abkhazian accusation is outraged, it will simply be deported from Pitsunda away. As, for example, today, without further ado, the population of the Russian-occupied territories of the South and East of Ukraine are deported to the eastern regions of Russia.
