We need mediation, EU assistance, support, call it whatever you want, to reunite our country, – the Georgian President Salome Zurabishvili made this statement in her speech at the International Conference “Ten years of Valued Partnership – Passed Way and Perspectives” taking place in Batumi city of Adjara region. The Batumi International Conference is dedicated to the 10th anniversary of the establishment of the Eastern Partnership Initiative.

“Our activities, which are carried out in our government or in the international arena, are not enough, it was proved by the protests. Georgia is a peaceful nation and is in itself a country that has never attacked any of the countries. It continues to receive Russian tourists with familiar hospitality, and this is happening despite the 2008 war. We want the occupation issue to be resolved peacefully. Despite all, democratic, peaceful, stable and European – we are such state. Renewed tensions with Russia indicate that the current status quo is unacceptable and does not contribute to long-term stability” – Salome Zurabishvili said.

As President noted it is necessary to de-escalate the tension, resume Geneva talks and make it more active.
