Salome Zurabishvili is holding meetings with representatives of opposition parties

President Salome Zurabishvili is holding meetings with the representatives of the opposition parties.

President has already held several meetings, including with Girchi leader Iago Khvichia. According to Khvichia, the President asked him what his position was on the amendments to the Code of Administrative Offenses.

Salome Zurabishvili will probably hear assessments from other oppositionists regarding the bill.

For the record, the Parliament of Georgia approved the amendments to the Code of Administrative Offenses of Georgia with accelerated procedure last week, tightening the measures of sanction for the repeated petty hooliganism and disobedience to the lawful request of the law enforcers. The law needs to be signed by the President, after which it will enter into force.

The opposition strongly criticizes the bill because, in their view, the tightening of sanctions on administrative offenses is aimed at restricting freedom of expression.
