Archil Talakvadze calls on opposition to take active part in the discussion of amendments

22.05.20 15:00

Our approach is result-oriented, our priority is to protect the health and safety of our citizens, while the task of some politicians and their approach is that if the discussion yields results, they should assess it speculatively, - Speaker of Parliament Archil Talakvadze said in response to the political statements made around the bill on public health.

He called on the opposition to get involved in the discussion of the bill.

"Today, the state of emergency is coming to an end, which means that we are moving from a stage of more restrictions to a stage of less restrictions. Certain restrictions will remain in place and we will have to follow the basic safety rules provided by our healthcare professionals in order to be able to restore social and economic functions, fully renew political processes and fulfill our tasks. Naturally, legislative support will be very important for this.

Yesterday was a very long working day, I want to thank you all. There was also a very tense political discussion. The public could once again see the difference - our approach is result-oriented, our priority is to protect the health and safety of our citizens, while the task of some politicians and their approach is that if the discussion yields results, they should assess it speculatively. This is the difference between our political approaches and our values.

Today, as yesterday, I would like to call on everyone and our opposition colleagues who are not attending the bureau meeting, but will attend the plenary session, to take an active part in drafting and discussing these changes,"- said Archil Talakvadze.
