We acknowledge our share of responsibility, we sincerely apologize, reads the statement of the Black Sea Arena, by which they responded to the protest caused by the Russian drummer being taken on stage by the lead vocal of The Killers at the concert.
As noted in the statement, the action of the artist on the stage is not a Black Sea Arena position.
"We understand the emotions of our guests. The action of the artist on the stage is not the position of the Black Sea Arena. We acknowledge our share of responsibility, we sincerely apologize and share the artist's response with you regarding the incident. Russia is the occupier," reads the statement, which was published with a response of The Killers regarding the incident.
The band itself apologized to the public for the incident in a statement and clarified that their intention was not to offend anyone.
"Good people of Georgia, it was never our intention to offend anyone! We have a longstanding tradition of inviting people to play drums and it seemed from the stage that the initial response from the crowd indicated that they were okay with tonight’s audience participation member coming onstage with us. We recognize that a comment, meant to suggest that all of The Killers’ audience and fans are “brothers and sisters,” could be misconstrued. We did not mean to upset anyone and we apologize. We stand with you and hope to return soon," The Killers said in a statement.
For information, yesterday, during the concert at the Black Sea Arena, the lead vocal of The Killers took a Russian drummer from the audience to the stage. This was followed by public protest. Part of the crowd left the concert as a sign of protest.
