Tourism projects implementation in Shuakhevi Municipality will breathe a new life into the region and increase the numbers of destinations and visitors, Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili stated during today’s presentation of the projects.
Implementing tourism projects of this type is vital for reviving the economy and attracting more tourists, PM underscored.
During the presentation, the Government of the Autonomous Republic of Adjara introduced five projects with a cumulative value of GEL 30,750,000. Its implementation will create new jobs and opportunities for the locals.
One of the projects involves the construction of a dual zipline in Chikhuri. Valued at GEL 10 million, it promises to be the longest zipline in Europe.
According to the Chvani Gorge Tourism Development Plan, infrastructure will be built 1.5 hours from Batumi, with trails, visitor centres, scenic views, and a demonstration village showcasing authentic mills. The project’s value is estimated at GEL 10 million.
Another project in Gomarduli Resort seeks to build toboggan and aerial lifts to breathe a new life into this ski resort. The project’s value amounts up to GEL 10 million.
Tourist shelters and camping sites are under construction on Mount Jvarimindori, in Shuakhevi, with the budget-making up GEL 250,000. Expected to complete in late October, the project will put in place a mountain link between Shuakhevi Municipality and Guria.
In the same vein, pedestrian/bike trails stretching across Keda and Shuakhevi Municipalities are also under construction to support the development of adventure tourism. Implemented with support from the EU’s ENPARD Program, approximately GEL 500,000-worth project will be finalized in October.
