6 Georgian citizens who were in Afghanistan returned to Georgia by Hungarian plane. The transfer of Georgian citizens became possible as a result of the active work of the Georgian side with the Hungarian authorities.

The citizens of Georgia were met at the airport by the Head of the Government Administration, Ilia Darchiashvili and the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Alexander Khvtisiashvili.

According to the head of the government administration, the Prime Minister's Administration and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs continue to work actively on the issue of evacuating the rest of the Georgian citizens in Afghanistan.

"Thanks to the efforts of the Georgian government, as a result of the very active work of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, today, 6 Georgian citizens have returned home safely from Afghanistan, of course, it is a very important event. As you know, due to the current events in Afghanistan, the situation is not predictable, which made it necessary to evacuate our citizens to their homeland, to return in time. This process continues because a certain group of our citizens is still in Afghanistan, therefore, the Administration of the Prime Minister of Georgia is actively working with all agencies and international partners to organize additional flights that will allow our citizens to return home safely in the near future", - said Ilia Darchiashvili.

Georgian citizens were employed by an American company in Afghanistan under a private contract.
