Kocharyan's revenge is deadly for Georgia

15.06.21 15:40

There are more and more signs that after the collapse of the "Artsakh" direction of the Armenian aggression against the neighbors (against Azerbaijan), the "Javakhk military corridor and allied reunification with Russia" may come to the fore. And the Armenian nationalists link reliable to him, firstly, with the separatist underground and separatist sentiments among the Armenians of Samtskhe-Javakheti, and secondly, with the coming to power in Yerevan by a revanchist headed by a war criminal, the former leader of the separatist "Artsakh" and the former president Armenia by Robert Kocharian.

Kocharyan's rather "solid" age should not be embarrassing here. The main thing for the revenge-seekers is to get the majority of votes at the early parliamentary elections in Armenia on June 20 and to ensure the return to power of the so-called. The "Karabakh clan", which, most likely, by prior agreement, will share it with the "Javakhk" clan, which is also in close connection with the Russian FSB - from the natives of Samtskhe-Javakheti living in the Republic of Armenia.

Of course, revanchists who dream of "replaying" the Second Karabakh War and re-occupying Azerbaijani Karabakh with the help of Russia will vote for Kocharian first of all. As it was in the First Karabakh war - then Kocharian's Sonderkommando were mainly engaged in the murder of the civilian Azerbaijani population (including in Khojaly), and the Russian military fought for them.

However, without the so-called. "Military corridor" through the territory of Georgia, through which the main military forces of the Russian Federation will come to the aid of the revanchists, given the current demoralization of the Armenian army, it is even theoretically impossible to organize successful aggression in Karabakh. And it is unrealistic to arrange revenge with "modest" forces stationed at the base in Gyumri, as well as Russian border guards and "peacekeepers".

In any case, "revenge in Karabakh" will be the second point of implementation of the plans of Kocharian and the Karabakh clan. And the first is aggression against Georgia by fomenting a separatist rebellion in Samtskhe-Javakheti and "helping Russia" to the separatists. The same Russia, which already occupies, at the suggestion of the same Armenian nationalists and the Armenian lobby (including Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov-Kalantarv), 20% of the Georgian territory.

So far, of course, in order to lull the vigilance of the Georgian leadership, Armenian nationalist revanchists do not openly speak about plans for a separatist rebellion in Samtskhe-Javakheti. However, the way they persistently agitate people from Samtskhe-Javakheti to vote for Kocharyan's party suggests that such plans are quite realistic.

Here, for example, is the text of the appeal so-called. “The Council of Armenian Public Organizations of Kvemo Kartli and Samtskhe -“ Javakhka ”spread by such an organization as the“ Armenian Community of Georgia ”known for its support of separatism in Samtskhe-Javakheti. We give a translation of this appeal:

“Dear compatriots!

The Armenian people and Armenia are faced with unprecedented problems, we have lost significant parts of Artsakh, Armenian statehood and sovereignty are under threat. In this situation, "Javakhk", "Javakhk" -Armenia cannot remain indifferent. We realize that the future of "Javakhk" is also threatened in the conditions of weak Armenian statehood.

Taking into account the past experience, we are confident that the Republic of Armenia can be pulled out of the current situation with the leadership and leadership of the "Armenia" alliance

We, the Armenians of "Javakh", remember well the high level of the Armenian-Georgian interstate relations during the years of cooperation between Robert Kocharian and the Armenian Revolutionary Federation, which is very important for us.

Let us recall what educational, cultural, health care and social programs were implemented in Javakhk during the presidency of Robert Kocharian.

It is not even accidental that in these early parliamentary elections there is only the “Armenia” alliance, which in its electoral program proposes to deepen and expand strategic partnership with Georgia as a close country, and preserve the national identity of historical Armenia.

Considering the aforementioned huge contribution to the projects implemented in "Javakhk", taking into account the high level of Armenian-Georgian relations for the specified period, we call on the citizens of Armenia, especially those living in the Republic of Armenia from "Javakhk" to actively participate in the early parliamentary elections of our nation on June 20 and vote for the “Armenia” alliance (the second president of Armenia, Robert Kocharian, the revolutionary federation of Armenia, the “Revival of Armenia” party).

In principle, among the Armenians of Georgia there are also prudent people who understand that revanchists like Kocharyan are leading the Armenian people to death. So one of the users, David Aslanyan, commented on their “appeal” on the page of the Armenian Community of Georgia. The meaning of the comment is in the following translation from Armenian:

Sorry, of course, but I wrote to you last year, offering to close my “office” and open “Shawarma” instead... Who are you who gathered with ten people and spread political statements on behalf of the Armenians of Georgia for the third time? Who gave you this right?

However, Kocharian's propaganda among immigrants from Samtskhe-Javkheti is very persistent. Here is another appeal - this time from the openly separatist organization “Javakhk Diaspora of Russia”:

“Our dear Javakhk people, citizens of Armenia, so fate decreed that life scattered us in different countries. But, wherever we are, we are connected by an invisible thread between “Javakhk” and Armenia, not allowing us to be indifferent to the fate of our native land.

On June 20, 2021, early parliamentary elections are to be held in the Republic of Armenia. Not being citizens of the Republic of Armenia, we do not have the opportunity to express our opinion directly at the polling stations. But we cannot remain indifferent, because the latest events taking place in our historical homeland are painful in our hearts.

In 2018, we watched with great hope the processes in Armenia, believing that the new government will give a serious impetus to the development of the country. However, this did not happen. New functionaries, with no experience in state-building, have brought the country to a critically dangerous line. During his tenure in power, the Prime Minister of Armenia was unable to form a stable professional team that would be able to cope with the serious challenges of the time. We wrote about our fears about the incompetent team assembled by the varchapet (prime minister - ed.) In early 2021 in an open letter to Nikol Pashinyan. The personnel confusion has not ended and will probably continue in the event of the victory of the current authorities in the upcoming early elections. One should not expect a miracle, because there are no professionals in this team to accomplish it.

We call on people to vote for real professionals with experience in state-building, who have proven their worth in this field, who are able to lead the country out of the current crisis. We have no doubt that the Hayastan bloc (Armenia) headed by ex-President Robert Sedrakovich Kocharyan is capable of withstanding the challenges of the time. We believe in you! We believe in a future strong and prosperous Armenia!”

In general, almost all the separatists in Samtskhe-Javkheti are for revenge-seekers and Robert Kocharyan's alliance. Is this a coincidence? Of course not.

The fact is that Robert Kocharian also supported separatism on Georgian territory during his time as President of Armenia.

In general, Kocharian and the current leader of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin, are connected by more than just friendship. Both are the brainchild of one department, the KGB-FSB, which is responsible for fomenting separatist conflicts in the post-Soviet space. And both of them were brought to power in Armenia and Russia, respectively, almost simultaneously in 1999. And both - after the bloody and still not fully investigated terrorist attacks. They also "trace the handwriting" of the FSB-GB.

It should be reminded that Robert Kocharian received full power in Armenia after the speaker and prime minister were killed in the Armenian parliament on October 27, 1999, with whom the issue of a peaceful settlement and the beginning of the de-occupation of Karabakh was already agreed upon - against which Kocharian was categorically opposed and his "Karabakh clan". The FSB of the Russian Federation was also against this. After all, it is obvious that with the liquidation of the separatist "Artsakh" project, the liquidation of other separatist projects in the post-Soviet space, including the territory of Georgia, will inevitably begin.

And immediately after Robert Kocharian came to power in Armenia, the separatist propaganda supported by Yerevan in Samtskhe-Javakheti sharply intensified. Moreover, the separatists had in fact their "stronghold" here in the form of a Russian military base in Akhalkalaki.

“By a strange coincidence,” relations between the Russian Federation and Georgia after Putin came to power in Russia and Kocharyan in Armenia immediately began to deteriorate. Moreover, it was then, for the first time, that they began to talk about the "military operation" of Russia against Georgia. The right to “not show the cards” as to whose interests it is planned, mythical “terrorists in the Pankisi Gorge” were named as a pretext for aggression. But even then it was clear to everyone that the small Pankisi Gorge with several villages was just an excuse. But "to break through the corridor" to the base in Akhalkalaki and further to Armenia was a very real goal.

On September 11, 2002, Vladimir Putin presented an ultimatum to Georgia regarding "terrorists in the Pankisi Gorge."

"The Ministry of Defense, together with other law enforcement agencies, should report on proposals for the development of special operations aimed at eliminating bandit formations in the event of repeated attempts by terrorists to break through into our country," Vladimir Putin instructed his law enforcers then. Separately, he instructed the Chief of the General Staff "to report proposals on the possibility and expediency of striking reliably reconnoitered terrorist bases during the pursuit operation."

It immediately became clear that the Pankisi Gorge was just a pretext, and by intrusion under the guise of "operation chasing terrorists", the Russian army could well occupy a significant part of the territory of Georgia. Considering that there were no direct roads between the Russian Federation and Pankisi, then Russian troops would inevitably have reached through the Roki tunnel and Tskhinvali along a straight road to Gori, and from there “much closer to Samtskhe-Javakheti, which was the main target of the aggression.

A miracle in the literal sense of the word helped Georgia to avoid aggression from Russia at that time. On September 20, 2002, when everything was ready for the invasion and, according to eyewitnesses, the troops in the same North Ossetia were brought to a state of full combat readiness (it is impossible to hide it) a glacier came down in the Karmadon Gorge. "Buried" the crew of the famous Russian director Bodrov. Moreover, the local population was so confident at the beginning of the war against Georgia that, having heard the roar of a descending glacier, they shared their thoughts: “it was ours who flew to bomb Georgia.”

One way or another, but because of the disaster in the Karmadon Gorge, the "background" for the invasion was declared unsuccessful in the Kremlin. They decided to postpone the operation. And the Georgian government, realizing the threat to its statehood, began a struggle to withdraw Russian bases from its territory, including from Akhalkalaki.

When the Russian aggression did take place in August 2008, Robert Kocharian had already ceded the presidency to another representative of the Karabakh clan, Serzh Sargsyan, who did not dare to openly oppose Georgia and support the rebellion in Samtskhe-Javakheti. Moreover, the military base on which the separatists from Akhalkalaki could rely had already been withdrawn by that time. Although Russian planes in August 2008 took off from military airfields on the territory of Armenia and bombed the territory of Georgia, Serzh Sargsyan ordered to close the border for Georgian refugees.

One way or another, but it is precisely separatism in Samtskhe-Javakheti and the possible corridor of Russian military support for revanchists in Armenia today that is the most dangerous time bomb under Georgian statehood. The return to power in Armenia of Robert Kocharian will mean the threat of a new separatist war and new external aggression. And the loss of Samtskhe-Javakheti for Georgia will be much more catastrophic than the loss of Abkhazia and Tskhinvali, because the aggressors and Armenian nationalists will not stop there. They will continue to dismember Georgia, punching "corridors" both to the Russian border and to the Black Sea.
