Prime Ministers of Ukraine and Georgia discuss strategic partnership and cooperation in European and Euro-Atlantic integration

Prime Minister Irakli Gharibashvili met with Prime Minister of Ukraine Denis Shmyhal in a video conference format.


The meeting focused on the friendship and strategic partnership between Georgia and Ukraine, which is based on centuries-old historical and good neighborly relations.

 

Emphasis was placed on the importance of European and Euro-Atlantic integration of Georgia and Ukraine and more effective cooperation in this direction.

 

The Prime Minister of Ukraine thanked his Georgian counterpart for his support of Ukraine in the international arena, both in bilateral and multilateral formats.

 

Speaking about Russia's recent military activation along Ukraine's borders and temporarily occupied Crimea, the Georgian Prime Minister reiterated the Georgian side's concern over the developments and reaffirmed Georgia's strong support for Ukraine's sovereignty and territorial integrity within its internationally recognized borders.

 

The conversation also touched upon the trade and economic relations between Georgia and Ukraine. It was noted that it is important to make joint efforts to further develop and deepen the existing economic cooperation between the two countries.

 

The sides discussed the progress made in the NATO integration process and noted that membership of the Alliance is one of the main priorities of the two countries' foreign and security policies. In this context, cooperation on Black Sea security and the importance of Black Sea security in ensuring common Euro-Atlantic security were underlined.
