According to today's data, we have 1177 new cases of virus, which, of course, in terms of targeted restrictions, which we have implemented for 2 months, shows positive dynamics, but in absolute numbers, 1500 cases per day is quite high for Georgia, - stated Prime Minister Giorgi Gakharia at the government session.
As the Prime Minister noted, the Ministry of Health will present a plan in the near future, which, according to Giorgi Gakharia, will allow us to start opening up the economy as quickly and efficiently as possible.
"As you know, almost a year has passed in January since the pandemic was first observed. As of today, we can say that despite the fact that a year has passed, the fight against the pandemic continues in Georgia and globally.
According to today's data, we have 1177 new cases of virus, which, of course, in terms of targeted restrictions, which we have implemented for 2 months, shows positive dynamics, but in absolute numbers, 1500 cases per day is quite high for Georgia. While we all understand that the steps taken were the right ones, we must make the decision to extend the current restrictions until February 1st. We see what is happening in Europe, the restrictions are getting tighter and tighter, however, we continue the restrictions that are in force until February 1st. In addition, the relevant departments of the Ministry of Health are actively working with the representatives of the economy and business to work together to develop specific measures that will allow us to start opening up the economy as quickly and efficiently as possible, this concerns testing schemes, vaccination issues, etc. Therefore, the Ministry of Health will present this plan in the near future, which we will work on with representatives of the economy and business", - said Gakharia.
