Jan-June 2019: Georgia earns $98 mln by exporting 40 mln bottles of wine

Georgia exported about 40.5 million bottles of wine to 44 countries in January-June of 2019, which is a 6% increase compared to the same period of 2018, announces the Georgian National Wine Agency.

 

In the reporting period Georgia generated over $98 million from the sale of wine abroad – 9% increase year-on-year. 

 

The top five countries that imported the most bottles of Georgian wine in January-June 2019 were:


Russia – 25,582,447 bottles
Ukraine – 3,752,488 bottles
China – 3,554,127 bottles
Poland – 1,821,802 bottles
Kazakhstan – 1,656,318 bottles


To strategic export markets:


United States – 88% increase (354,874 bottles)
China - 19% increase (3,554,127 bottles)
Poland - 16% increase (1,821,802 bottles)
Export also grew to these countries:
France - 120% (55,908 bottles)
Lithuania - 68% (315,306 bottles)
Mongolia – 68% (146,892 bottles)
Belarus - 32% (889,002 bottles)
Israel - 20% (131,184 bottles)
Canada - 12% (83,220 bottles)
Germany - 11% (317,771 bottles)
Estonia - 11% (326,966 bottles)
Russia - 6% (25,582,447 bottles)


Meanwhile, Georgia exported 12.6 million bottles of Georgian brandy (+50%) and 238,000 bottles of Chacha (+34%) abroad.
