Is Akhalkalaki really in the hands of separatists?

07.10.20 14:25

The situation in the largely ethnic Armenian-populated region of Samtskhe-Javakheti is deteriorating day by day. After the separatists openly registered the fighters in military formations and raised funds to finance the terrorists in the central stadiums of Ninotsminda and Akhalkalaki, and the authorities did not stop these illegal criminal acts, the Armenian nationalists decided to demonstrate their strength.

On October 6 at "Akhalkalaki" stadium a huge crowd of separatists and militants previously registered in illegal formations for sending to war in Azerbaijani Garabagh (the latter were not let through the Georgian border) gathered for allegedly "peaceful meeting" in support of separatist "Artsakh"... that very "Artsakh" or "NKR" created by Armenian invaders on occupied lands of Azerbaijan. "NKR" recognizes the "independence" of the separatist regimes in Tskhinvali and Sukhumi, where ethnic cleansing of the Georgian population was carried out largely with the help of Armenian fighters (the same Battalion named after Baghramyan).

To demonstrate its strength, a column of separatists walked along the central streets of Akhalkalaki, shouting nationalist slogans, including "Artsakh", "Artsakh". That was the propaganda of separatism and the seizure of foreign lands, which primarily affected Georgia itself, which is becoming overt and increasingly provocative.

The meeting and procession of the separatists was actively PR on Akhaltskha.net and ATV TV:

As we can see, Akhalkalaki is already in the hands of the separatists. So far they have been walking unarmed, but at any moment, taking into account the clandestine weapons depots created by the separatists, they could start an armed separatist uprising.

The separatists' goals are also known. First of all, they can arrange sabotages against strategically important transit energy communications. It is not accidental that on October 6, the same day when the separatists marched and "demonstrated their strength" in Akhalkalaki, the Armenian aggressors tried to strike at the strategically important Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan oil pipeline.

According to the press service of the General Prosecutor's Office of Azerbaijan, on Tuesday night Armenia fired at the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan oil pipeline as well as Azerbaijanian settlements.

The report says: "By the order of the military and political leadership of Armenia, on October 6, 2020 at 21:00, the armed forces of the occupation country fired rockets at the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan oil pipeline, which is the largest strategic project in the region and an important part of Europe's energy security."

It is noted that the Azerbaijani army has prevented this attempt of terrorism.

However, given the growing power of the Armenian separatists in Samtskhe-Jovakheti, it will be increasingly difficult to prevent their terrorist acts and subversions. In fact, the separatist movement has already gotten out of control. However, in the interests of Georgia's security, it had to be "pressed in the bud" and at least prevented them from openly recruiting fighters.

But even now it is not too late to take decisive measures to curb the separatists. If that is not done, Georgia will be threatened by a repeat of the Abkhazian catastrophe in Samtskhe-Javakheti.
