Sergei Gavrilov says he may again arrive in Georgia as a pilgrim

28.06.19 16:00

Sergei Gavrilov, Deputy of the Russian State Duma, does not rule out to pay a personal visit to Georgia again in order to implement the law on Pilgrimage, which has recently been adopted by the Russian Parliament.

"We have adopted the Law on Pilgrimage and would like to try it in Georgia in order to travel to holy places," Gavrilov told the RIA Novosti news agency.

According to him, he is not going to arrive in Georgia soon, as he does not want to serve as a reason for provocations. “I believe the situation will calm down," Gavrilov added.

Sergei Gavrilov visited Georgia last week. He chaired the session of the Parliamentary Assembly on Orthodoxy in the Parliament building, which was followed by acute protest of the Georgian society.
