Mamuka Bakhtadze: The force used by police was legitimate

Our international partners  do not have questions on whether the force we used was legitimate, - Prime Minister Mamuka Bakhtadze said at the press conference before the governmental session.

 

The Prime Minister noted that the use of force during the June 20-21 events was legitimate, since there was no other option. At the same time, the Prime Minister noted that the investigation into the alleged use of excessive force by law enforcers would be maximally transparent.

 

"We have intensive communication with our international partners and they do not have questions on whether the force we used was legitimate. Yes, the use of force was legitimate, because there was no other option. This was confirmed by all international organizations and international partners. At the same time, of course, the society and we, as the part of society, have questios regarding the use of excessive force by specific law enforcers, as there are some footage showing the above. We will relevantly assess everything. Investigation is ongoing with high degree of transparency. The Public Defender's Office is involved in the process and we will ensure the highest degree of transparency in this investigation", - stated Mamuka Bakhtadze.
