President addresses international organizations in connection with situation in Tskhinvali region

The President of Georgia addressed the leaders of international organizations, the United Nations and the European Union, as well as the Co-Chairs of the Geneva International Discussions in writing and asked to use all available means to prevent escalation of the situation in the occupied territories of Georgia, especially in the Tskhinvali region, to protect population from dangers and to prevent fundamental human rights violations in the future.

 

The President of Georgia stresses in her address that the social and humanitarian situation in the occupied territories is constantly and rapidly deteriorating, human rights are systematically and grossly violated, Georgian citizens are abducted and illegally deprived of their liberty; cases of deaths in illegal prisons in the occupied territories are frequent, as well as physical and psychological violence against the local population.
