Mikheil Saakashvili: I'm coming back!

27.08.20 13:30

"Of course, there were mistakes, there were very serious mistakes too, but God is a witness, I wanted the best for my people", - stated former Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili in the video on his Facebook page, where he apologized to the Georgian people and said that he'll return.

"Ukraine is my second home. At that time I came here from my main home, my sweet Georgia. I have always loved Ukraine since I was a student, in the most difficult period it was Ukraine that accepted me as I am, without any conditions and requirements and I appreciate it very much. I am also very thankful for the fate that has given me the opportunity to experience this for the last seven years. I had enough time to think and re-evaluate many issues. Now, after all these years, I know how to better serve our country, how to avoid mistakes... there were mistakes, there were very serious mistakes too, but God is a witness, I wanted the best for my people. I wanted my people to live better, much better-off. Yet, from the perspective of these years, I want to publicly apologize to everyone for the mistakes I made, because I could not make it to the end. At the same time, I am extremely grateful to the Georgian people, who got me involved in the successful historical process of building a Georgian state. During these seven years there has not been a single day that I have not been interested in Georgian news and I know for sure that my work as President has not been in vain and many of the things we have created are still maintained and working. But, at the same time when I hear Georgian news I can guess and know that we can live much better, every Georgian can be rich. We'll do it together! I'm coming back!", - stated Saakashvili.
