Government identifies high-risk groups subject to mandatory PCR testing

In order to effectively manage the increased epidemiological risks after opening up the economy in Georgia, the government has identified the high-risk groups that will undergo mandatory PCR testing on a regular basis.

 

As InterPressNews was informed by the governmental administration, patients of any clinic who have a fever will be subjected to mandatory testing, as well as persons placed in quarantine spaces and self-isolation, 24 hours before leaving the quarantine space and/or before the expiration of the self-isolation period.

 

More specifically, in addition to the cases falling under the standard definition of the COVID-19 infection, the list of persons subject to mandatory testing includes patients of any medical facility or outpatient clinic, who have a fever and at the same time signs of respiratory illness; medical staff working in medical and primary health care institutions; staff of ambulance and disaster brigades; beneficiaries and personnel placed of specialized daycare facilities for the elderly and disabled; all persons who have been diagnosed with tuberculosis, prior to the inclusion inappropriate treatment; staff working in psychiatric medical institutions, etc.

 

Apart from the medical facilities, the staff and persons placed in the quarantine spaces will also be subject to mandatory testing, as well as the staff of customs checkpoints, economic zones of registration, including representatives of medical and epidemiological services, drivers of vehicles transporting international cargo, employees of the Special Penitentiary Service of the Ministry of Justice of Georgia, who have direct contact with prisoners, employees of the relevant departments of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, etc.
