While the provocateurs divert the attention of Georgians to David Gareji, the invaders and separatists seize the Georgian monastery in the Mtskheta-Mtianeti region

Alarming news comes from the separation line with the occupied Tskhinvali region. There was information that the occupiers and separatists of the so-called “South Ossetia” captured about 42 hectares of territory in the Mtskheta-Mtianeti region and came close to the ancient Georgian monastery.

David Katsarava, a member of the Anti-Occupation Movement, published information about these captures. The members of the movement discovered a new occupation line near one of the monasteries, where about 42 hectares of land were seized and Russian soldiers patrol there. However, at the request of the clergy, Katsarava did not name the exact location of the monastery.

The occupation line, which is still fixed at 500-600 meters from the monastery, is actually already 50-60 meters from the monastery, where invaders usually patrol. “We summarized our rough measurements and about 42 hectares were captured. This process, as we learned, began about a year and a half ago and was unknown to the public, ”says David Katsarava. According to him, these data, along with GPS coordinates and an accurate location, together with the participants in the movement will familiarize the diplomatic corps.

Although the name of the monastery has not yet been announced, it is not difficult to guess which monastery is a question. This is the famous monastery of Lomisa throughout Georgia with a 9th-century church dedicated to St. George the Victorious.

The Lomisa Monastery is located at an altitude of about 2200 meters above sea level on a mountain range, a watershed between the Ksani and Aragvi valleys. Lomisa is the main sanctuary for the Aragvi Valley and the high mountain region of Mtiuleti, as well as the venue for the annual festival in the seventh week after Easter, Lomisoba, which attracts thousands of people.

The loss of this monastery to Georgia will be an unacceptable loss. Moreover, as it is known, the occupiers and separatists in Abkhazia and in the Tskhinvali region fundamentally do not allow Georgian clergy and pilgrims to Georgian churches appropriated by schismatic pseudo-religious groups.

At the same time, the Georgian churches captured by the invaders and separatists are disfigured, and inscriptions, murals, and all evidence of their Georgian origin are purposefully destroyed in them. The same danger threatens the monastery of Lomisa.

But Nikoloz Mzhavanadze, Levan Chichua, and other pseudo "patriots" specifically inciting provocations on the Georgian-Azerbaijani border around David Gareji didn’t say a word that Georgia could lose the Lomisa monastery. Since the “customers” from Yerevan are paid precisely for provocations against the Georgian-Azerbaijani friendship and good neighborliness.

At this time, “to the noise” of the loud hysteria of pseudo-“patriots” around the David Gareji monastery complex (95% of which is located in Georgia and this is not disputed by anyone), Russian invaders capture the Georgian shrine near Mtskheta - the spiritual heart of Georgia - to give it away for the desecration of the separatists.
