It is planned to conduct 1,500-1,700 tests per day before May 15, and 2,000-2,500 tests after May 15, - Amiran Gamkrelidze, director of the National Center for Disease Control, told reporters.

According to him, at this stage, 12 laboratories are conducting tests under PCR technology and it is planned to add 3 more laboratories.

He said it was necessary that PCR tests become more accessible to the public after restrictions were eased.

“During the meeting with the Minister of Health, we discussed the issue of expanding laboratory tests. The main focus is on molecular tests. It is planned to conduct 1,500-1,700 tests per day before May 15, and 2,000-2,500 tests after May 15. It is also necessary that PCR tests become more accessible to the public, after restrictions are eased”, Gamkrelidze said.

He once again called on the public to follow recommendations, as we are having the most responsible weeks in the country.

"The 6th, 7th, and 8th weeks are the most responsible weeks for the domestic spread of the infection and I call on the population to follow all the recommendations given by the healthcare sector. Then we will be able to be sure that our country can come out of this epidemic with relatively less damage,” he said.
