27.04.20 17:20

Czechia has given thermal scanners to Georgia’s western Zugdidi Screening Centre, which will be used to identify individuals that may have COVID-19 symptoms in the region.

In addition to the thermal scanners, Czechia has also provided protective equipment – face masks, gloves, and medical coats.

In addition to the equipment, Czechia will cover the salaries of the Screening Centre staff.

Over the following month, the population of Zugdidi in selected risk areas will be temperature screened and provided more information about COVID-19.

The campaign is a joint action of the Zugdidi Public Health Centre and Caritas Czech Republic in Georgia (CCRG).

As a part of the campaign, 170 rural doctors have been trained on how to provide distant medical consultations to the local rural population while staying safe at home to avoid exposure to the coronavirus.

The number of coronavirus cases stands at 496 in Georgia as of today.

149 people of the 496 have recovered, while six others have died.

4,833 people are under quarantine and 571 others are in hospitals.
