The Georgian government will help citizens who lost their jobs due to the pandemic with monthly GEL 200 for 6 months. The Prime Minister of Georgia, Giorgi Gakharia, made the respective announcement at the presentation of the anti-crisis economic plan at the sitting of the Anti-Crisis Economic Group of the Inter-Agency Coordination Council.

According to the Prime Minister, the government will render financial assistance to those, who lost their jobs due to the spread of COVID-19 and who had been officially registered as employed. This assistance will apply to 350,000 citizens.

"All the employed, who lost their jobs during the crisis, after the declaration of the state of emergency, and who no longer have income, will receive assistance from the state in the amount of GEL 1,200 for 6 months, which means that they will receive GEL 200 every month. The sustainability of this assistance was critical to us. With the funds we have today, at least 350 thousand citizens will be able to get assistance, which will cost 460 million GEL for the budget. The purpose of this measure is to provide minimal financial support to people who have lost their jobs,” Gakharia said.
