Armenian Diaspora ready to “seize” control of Abkhazia

13.01.20 14:55

The so-called Separatist Supreme Court of Abkhazia decided to hold repeated presidential elections. At the same time, a campaign to finally “discredit” Abkhazians as an ethnic group is gaining momentum in the Russian media and social networks. It’s clear that not a word is said about the main reason why separatist Abkhazia, in spite of huge money injections from the Russian Federation, has so many problems - about the psychology of looters.

Nor does it say that it is impossible to build a normal society where most of the indigenous population, Abkhazian Georgians, are expelled, and their houses and apartments are appropriated by killers and looters. Among the looters, there are both Abkhazians and Armenians.

The emphasis is on the other. The fact that the Abkhazians, as a people, are allegedly incapable of state administration, which, incidentally, is refuted by history. Indeed, Abkhazians still had statehood when there was still no one heard about the Russian state. But it was a joint statehood with the fraternal Georgian people, with whom the Abkhazians lived inseparability for ages.

At the same time, even the “old friend” of Sukhumi separatists, a Russian deputy, a member of the State Duma’s Committee on CIS Affairs and Relations with Compatriots Konstantin Zatulin, all hints at the Abkhaz’s inability to manage. True, as is known, the much greater friend Konstantin Zatulin is to the Armenian nationalists. And his recent statements that the Abkhazians "cannot cope with the government" are not at all random. Since the question immediately arises - "who is coping"?

And the answer to it is obvious - the “ancient, cultural and long-suffering” Armenian people, which, despite their “long-suffering”, have already become the majority in Abkhazia and are already larger than the Abkhaz themselves. This is despite the fact that the first Armenian settlement appeared in Abkhazia only 140 years ago (recently celebrated the anniversary), and until 1992 there were only 16% of them.

Indeed, the “speed of achieving dominant status” by the Armenians in Abkhazia is record-breaking even in comparison with the territories of the Erivan and Karabakh Khanate, where the Armenians are also newcomers.

Here is a "significant" excerpt from an interview with Konstantin Zatulin on the air of the NSN (https://nsn.fm/policy/konstantin-zatulin-abhazskaya-politicheskaya-elita-ne-spravlyaetsya-s-upravleniem-gosudarstvom?fbclid=IwAR1WOsKwgorayekSKkJ1KTwmLNRLzXO2_ut8b_TZ8Q9Om9ymgv20LfGhNwA ):

“All our concern is natural, it is connected with the fact that Russia has undertaken obligations to ensure the security and defense of Abkhazia, it is in an alliance with Abkhazia, military-political, defensive. And because of this, our troops are there. And, of course, we are not indifferent to how Abkhazia will develop, whether this development will be conflictual or not....

An early election is an opportunity, a means, but it is not a panacea. The political class of Abkhazia, unfortunately, today obviously does not reach the level of problems facing the republic. Many years of problems that should have been solved long ago are not being resolved: in the economy, in culture, and in the social sphere ... Despite the help and support of Russia. And this is the deep-seated cause of the conflict, which now, of course, has other reasons: the Abkhaz political elite is not managing the government, and otherwise, in the form of conflicts, the resolution of these contradictions does not occur.”

The hint is clear. Russian troops are in Abkhazia and in fact, they will decide everything. But the elections in the occupied territory are of little use and this is said by Zatulin (the great "democrat") in plain text. Since the elections imply the participation of the initially “incapable of governing” Abkhazians.

Since the Abkhazians and Zatulin also speak plainly, they cannot cope with the management of their separatist “state,” the conclusion suggests itself. The Russian occupation forces must even take away the formal power in Abkhazia from the Abkhazians, and give it to those who are "capable" of "governing the state." Armenians, who say their historical tales, that they had “ancient states”.

At the same time, Armenian nationalists in Abkhazia are now calmly waiting until the Abkhazians plunge the separatist territory into a state of complete paralysis of all separatist institutions of power and as a result, the power will end up in their hands as the most organized, united and motivated community. Indeed, Armenian nationalists rightly consider Georgian Abkhazia as their most valuable “booty”. And in order to “legalize” the ownership of this territory, in principle, the current chaos is even beneficial, despite the formal calls for peace and harmony.”

Now, the leaders of the Armenian community of Abkhazia specifically emphasize their “non-involvement” in the riots and “constructiveness”. “The head of the Union of Armenians of Abkhazia: our community is not involved in the actions held in Sukhumi,” said the head of the Union of Armenians of Abkhazia Khachik Minasyan (https://news.am/rus/news/553785.html).

According to Minasyan, the tension prevailing in the capital cannot have any dangerous impact on the Armenian community.

“Of course, individual Armenians participate in these actions, but the community itself is not involved in all this. We do not interfere with these processes. And the presence of a position, in this case, is simply impossible. We call for resolving issues peacefully, but will they listen to our voice?” Minasyan stated.

In general, the image of the Abkhaz Armenians as "not involved" in the Maidan now plays into their hands. In principle, they benefit from any scenario.
They will choose a new puppet and he will be forced to rely only on the Armenians. The direct occupational rule will be introduced, Armenians will become full masters of Abkhazia in this case even faster.

What surely will not be the victory of the Abkhaz patriots. Without the de-occupation of Abkhazia and the restoration of fraternal relations with the Georgian people, it is impossible, in principle, it doesn’t matter how many “Maidans” will there be. And the forces are absolutely unequal. Abkhazians are simply powerless against the occupying forces and heavily armed Armenian nationalists. Moreover, over the Abkhaz people, as well as over the Georgians of Abkhazia in 1992-1993 looming the threat of genocide and ethnic cleansing by those who laid eyes on their land.
