Armenian "nuclear bomb" under the port of Poti and the entire Black Sea coast of Georgia

16.05.19 17:00

Armenia is manic seeking to “donate” its deadly nuclear waste to Georgia. Declared plans to streamline their transit through the Georgian resorts of the Black Sea coast. So that they are "overloaded" to the sea ferry.

At the same time, how much this waste will be reloaded, who will ensure their safety and security - does not say. As well as, will not this nuclear waste remain on the coast of Georgia by permanently stopping it in a nuclear desert. And what about the population and tourists who will become “hostages” of the deadly cargo?

However, recently the director of the Armatom Institute, Vagram Petrosyan, stated that the transit of nuclear waste is “a completely safe procedure” that exists in international practice.

"Transportation is absolutely safe. For this, there are special containers that can withstand even emergency situations that are unlikely," - said Petrosyan to Sputnik Armenia.

He stressed that nuclear waste cannot be transported by plane, so they are transported by rail. According to him, if the Georgian authorities agree to transit through their territory, the route will be as follows: the cargo will be delivered from Yerevan by rail to the port of Poti, then by ferry to Novorossiysk, and from there to the Urals by rail.

Meanwhile, the transfer of such dangerous goods as nuclear waste in the port, which is also subject to various elements - is extremely dangerous in itself. We must not forget that there are storms in the Black Sea, including such when ships stand for days at a raid deprived of the opportunity to enter the port.

A wreckage of a ferry with deadly cargo near the coast of Georgia is possible deliberate sabotage and terrorist act and “flooding” off the coast of Georgia. And then the whole coast of the Black Sea will be just a huge radioactive zone, where it’s not going to rest - it will be dangerous to life.

At the same time, propaganda of transit of nuclear waste through Georgia is in full swing in Armenia. Armenian ecologist Karine Danielyan, in particular, stated that finding fuel at the Armenian NPP in the “burial ground” is dangerous not only for Armenia, but also for the entire region, while “much more dangerous than transportation”.

"There is a certain risk during transportation. Previously, they were exported through Azerbaijan, but since the early 1990s this route has been closed for us. In Soviet times, low-level and medium-level radioactive waste was collected and spent nuclear fuel was exported to Russia," - said Danielyan.

Even a tendentious Armenian ecologist is forced to admit that “there is a risk”. And that means - it is huge.

At the same time to solve the problems of nuclear waste is simple. It is necessary to immediately close the outdated and extremely dangerous Armenian nuclear power plant in Metsamor, whose continued operation turns into a deadly threat to all countries of the region.
