Georgia is working on the development of high-speed railway traffic

The Government of Georgia is working on the development of high-speed railway traffic. This is mentioned in the Prime Minister's report on the implementation of the government program.

 

"The study of possibilities for the development of high-speed rail traffic in Georgia was completed, within the framework of which the current state of the Georgian railway system was assessed, a market analysis was prepared regarding the demand for passenger and freight rail services, and in order to develop high-speed rail traffic, a railway network plan was drawn up, economic-financial benefits and social- taking into account the environmental impact assessments," the document reads.

 

In addition, the report states that approximately 95% of the construction work of the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars project has already been completed, where rail shipments will resume in test mode from May 2024.
