It is important for the members of such a commission to have a state approach, - Speaker of the Parliament, Shalva Papuashvili, said regarding the selection process of the CEC chairman and members, where the representative of the president, Levan Shengelia, suspended his participation in the CEC membership selection commission.

 

According to Shalva Papuashvili, it is a pity if the representatives do not participate in the interview.

 

"Society knows that I offered work to the exact same commission that was selected by Mrs. Salome Zurabishvili at the time. Therefore, I did not start the personal re-selection of the commission. It is a pity if they do not participate in the interview. The commission is empowered and I thank them for continuing their work. I am waiting for their decision and proposal", said Papuashvili.

 

For information, the President's representative, Levan Shengelia, suspended his participation in the CEC membership selection commission. As Levan Shengelia explained while talking to journalists, this decision is a kind of sign of solidarity towards the members representing the non-governmental sector, whose initiative was not taken into account by the commission. As Shengelia mentioned, two representatives of the third sector had a statement at yesterday's meeting, according to which they would stop working as members of the commission.
