Speaker warns opposition against spreading anti-Georgian propaganda; lies to Georgian people won't succeed

03.04.24 13:51

We will not admit spreading anti-Georgian propaganda. I will turn off the microphone to all who term the new bill as Russian Law,” Parliament Speaker Shalva Papuashvili told the opposition.

The Speaker warned the opposition to stop spreading falsehoods to the Georgian people and declared that the tactics that worked during the March 2023 protests would not work this time.

The presentation of the draft law “On the Transparency of Foreign Influence” turned into a verbal and physical confrontation between the majority and opposition MPs at today’s parliament sitting.

The ruling Georgian Dream (GD) party will resubmit a modified draft bill on transparency of foreign financing, said Mamuka Mdinaradze, leader of the parliamentary majority.
