UN Secretary General highlights Georgia’s “continued” support in congratulatory message to Georgian PM

António Guterres, the Secretary General of the United Nations, on Tuesday expressed his “sincere” congratulations to the Prime Minister of Georgia Irakli Kobakhidze on his recent appointment.


“Under your leadership, I look forward to furthering the cooperation between
the United Nations and the Government of Georgia, as you pursue your commitment
to strengthen democratic institutions, the rule of law and gender equality”, Guterres said.


“The United Nations remains committed to supporting the Geneva International
Discussions and meeting the needs of the conflict-affected population”, he continued.


Guterres also highlighted that Georgian Government and the Georgian citizens could count on the “continued” support and cooperation of the United Nations, including through the Country Team in Georgia, in pursuit of advancing the Sustainable Development Goals.
