Successful” cooperation between the Georgian Government and the Munich Security Conference was discussed on Sunday in a meeting between the Georgian Foreign Minister Ilia Darchiashvili and Benedikt Franke, the Vice Chair and CEO of the annual event.

Darchiashvili thanked Franke for organising the gathering “at a high level”, the Georgian foreign office said.

The top Georgian diplomat emphasised the importance of “properly” presenting Georgia within the framework of the Conference, which he said the event had “always” contributed to.

The meeting also focused on the report of the Conference that mentioned Bidzina Ivanishvili, the founder and the Honorary Chair of the ruling Georgian Dream party, as a “pro-Russian oligarch”, with Darchiashvili claiming the mention “relies on the information received from politically motivated persons”.

In his turn, Franke noted the Conference was interested in “further” cooperation with the Georgian Government, including the planning of joint events to promote a “positive image” of the country.
