October 2, 2012 will go down in history not as a day of victory for the Georgian Dream, but for the Georgian people and me personally, Mikheil Saakashvili, the third president of Georgia, writes on the social network.

As he points out, the formula for defeating an oligarch is only in unity.

"October 2, 2012 will go down in history not as the day of victory for the Georgian Dream, but for the Georgian people and me personally!"

To tell the truth, until the last minute, many of our friends did not believe that Georgia would violate the post-Soviet space tradition and have a peaceful change of power.

Then I made a decision that Georgia's young democracy really needed, this very step brought us even closer to the European Union and NATO!

I promised you on October 2, 2012 that I would fight to preserve the main achievement of our country! Not a day passed without the members of my team exposing Georgian Dream to corruption and patronage of criminals. The United National Movement was able to do the impossible and despite the daily physical resistance, it did not allow Ivanishvili's men to completely destroy and trample our created modern Georgia.

But it is already obvious that the main achievement of the "Rose Revolution" is in danger.

Today we are losing the most important thing - the freedom of our country!

That's why today is not the time to divide! The formula for defeating an oligarch is only in unity.

I am sure that the end of Ivanishvili's regime is very close. That's why our task is to save Georgia and create a strong state that no external power or oligarchs can take over.

I am ready to write the next chapter of the history of the modern Georgian state with you," Saakashvili wrote.
