Hungarian Ambassador: We believe Georgia ready for EU candidate status

06.06.23 14:00

Hungarian Ambassador to Georgia, Anna Maria Siko, on Monday, said: “Hungary supports Georgia as a European, Euro-Atlantic, and modern nation.”

Alluding to the EU candidate status, Siko noted that “in June, unfortunately, some countries decided Georgia was not quite ready to get EU candidate status, but gave Georgia a European perspective which is already a few steps to membership.”

The Ambassador stressed, “Georgia is very well prepared already, of course, there is always a thing that could be improved.”

“Improvement is necessary but Georgia is on the right track; we believe it’s ready to be the candidate and we very much hope you will be a member very, very soon. You can count on the Hungarian vote,” She stated.
