On the occasion of Independence Day, the flag of the European Union is not displayed on the main avenue of the country that is waiting for the candidate status - this is a deliberate action, by which harmful, subversive messages are being voiced, Strategy Builder MP Paata Manjgaladze said, responding to the fact that unlike last year, among the flags displayed on the Parliament building for the May 26 event, there is no longer an EU flag along with the Georgian flag.

According to Manjgaladze, instead of the country having the candidate status and waiting for accession negotiations, we are talking about whether the EU flag should be on the main avenue of Tbilisi.

"Georgian Dream likes fake pathos about symbols. Doesn't the European Union and its flag on Rustaveli have a symbolic meaning today? The country is waiting for the status and at this time harmful, subversive statements are made. I think the first sanctions should be imposed on Bochorishvili - she says that the Georgian flag made us angry. Do I look like a person who is annoyed by the five-cross flag of Georgia?! It's not the flag of Georgia that annoys me, it annoys me that the flag of the European Union is not displayed on the main avenue of the country, which is waiting for the status of the candidate, on the occasion of the Independence Day event. It is not accidental what Gharibashvili and Kobakhidze say every day. For years, Russia has been demanding that we renounce NATO, liberal democracy, and what they say about "liberal fascism" is the Dugin doctrine. It just happened that they didn't have blue color and couldn't print the flag. This is not accidental, it is a deliberate action," Manjgaladze said.
