22 May may go down in Armenian nationalist history as a "black day", following 24 April (the day of the mythical "genocide of Armenians in the Ottoman Empire"). However, if the notorious "genocide" is an invention of Armenian historical falsifiers and by definition has no international consequences, the words said on May 22, 2023 are the real words of the real leader of the Armenian state, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, which should forever cross out all "miatsum" and other illegal territorial claims of Armenia to its neighbours. And at the same time to remind all separatists and those who support them that separatism is a dead end of civilization and brings nothing but wasted lives.
"The territory of Azerbaijan with an area of 86.6 thousand square kilometres includes Nagorno Karabakh. This statement was made by Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan at a press conference in Yerevan, answering a question about what is included in the territory of Azerbaijan within the specified limits. When asked whether the Armenian government recognises Karabakh as part of Azerbaijan, Nikol Pashinyan said that "all Armenian governments have recognised the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan". Apparently forgetting how he himself said at the opening of the seventh Pan-Armenian Games in then-occupied Karabakh, Azerbaijan, in August 2019 that "Karabakh is Armenia and that's it".
"And if we and Azerbaijan understand each other correctly, Yerevan recognizes the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan within the specified limits, and Baku - the territorial integrity of Armenia within 29,800 square kilometres," Pashinyan said, adding, however, that the rights and security of Karabakh Armenians should be discussed between Khankendi (Stepanakert) and Baku, while allegedly requiring "international guarantees" to launch such a dialogue.
However, there are more than 100 nations and nationalities with Azerbaijani citizenship in Azerbaijan and none of them demands "dialogue" or "international guarantees". The Karabakh Armenians can integrate well into Azerbaijani society. Had it not been for the "miatsum" adventure, they could have lived peacefully and quietly in Azerbaijan for the past 30 years. Taking into account the natural increase, they would be much more than those 120 thousand fake ones about which today's Armenian nationalists and "Artsakh" separatists are telling.
But today there are at best 25-30 thousand Armenians left in Karabakh. Tens of thousands left Karabakh during the occupation years and thousands more died in pointless wars for "miatsum", which turned out to be just a bloody unrealizable idea.
Nikol Pashinian's statement was greeted very nervously by the Armenian "Artsakh" separatists and revanchists. A real hysteria erupted on social media. In addition to accusing Pashinyan of "betrayal" and that he was a "Turk", a feverish search for ways to "save" Artsakh was launched. Or, more precisely, who will fight for "Artsakh" when Armenia finds itself unable to do so.
Some still hope for Russia, that it will finally engage in "the salvation of Artsakh" after filling Ukrainian Bakhmut with corpses. Others believe in the "French miracle" and that suddenly France, which throughout its history has fought only for its own interests, will start fighting for "Artsakh". Still others hope for the regime in Tehran. All these hopes look absolutely fantastic. But this does not mean that the "walled-in" Armenian "Artsakh" separatists will not decide on a "provocation of desperation" to derail the peace agreement between Armenia and Azerbaijan and unleash war.
The fate of the "miatsum" and "Artsakh" separatist project that started a bloody separatist war in the Caucasus once again makes us ponder the stalemate of the separatists in Russia-occupied Sukhumi and Tskhinvali. And to force sensible Abkhazians and Ossetians, before it is too late, to start a dialogue on reintegration into united Georgia and reconciliation of their deceived by separatism peoples with the brotherly Georgian people. There is no point in counting on anyone fighting for their separatist projects in a situation where even the powerful Armenian lobby, which unleashed the separatist bacchanalia, cannot find anyone willing to fight for "Artsakh".
In an extreme case, the same Armenian nationalists may grab hold of Abkhazia, but not for the benefit of the Abkhaz people and not even to save the separatist puppets of Sukhumi, but in order to organize a new mono-ethnic Armenian quasi-"state" on the seashore amid the loss of "Artsakh". Does this need Abkhazian people who have already experienced genocide and expulsion from their native land once in history?
Under the Constitution of Georgia Abkhazia has all rights of autonomy, and the Abkhazian language that is dying out today in conditions of separatism has the status of the state language (and thus will be saved!). In other words, in united Georgia Abkhazians will have what no other nation of similar size (about 100 thousand people) operates in the world.
