External merchandise trade goes up by 22.1% in January-March

In January-March 2023 the external merchandise trade (excluding non-declared trade) of Georgia amounted to USD 4 783.7 million, 22.1% higher to the same period of 2022, , the National Statistics Service (GeoStat) reported.

 

The exports equaled USD 1 461.5 million (24.7% higher), while the imports stood at USD 3 322.2 million (21.0% higher). The negative trade balance was USD 1 860.6 million in January-March 2023 and its share in external trade turnover constituted 38.9%.

 

According to Geostat, in January-March 2023 the share of the top ten trading partners by exports in the total exports of Georgia amounted to 80.9 percent. The top partners were Armenia (USD 216.9 million), Azerbaijan (USD 180.7 million) and Russia (USD 176.9 million).
