According to Prime Minister Irakli Gharibashvili, awarding the prize to the former president of Georgia, Mikheil Saakashvili, in human rights is a mockery and insult to the Georgian people.
As Gharibashvili told journalists while commenting on the issue of the award given to Saakashvili in Norway, Saakashvili is the creator of a murderous regime.
According to him, handing over the said prize to Saakashvili is the same as if some country awarded Breivik, who was convicted of murdering many people in Norway.
"It was a terrible hellish reality that we encountered in 2012, when people were tortured, raped, and killed by the criminal system. Against this background, Saakashvili was awarded something by some Norwegian organization for the results achieved in the field of human rights. This is a mockery and insult to our people. The world-famous authoritarian, almost dictatorial former ruler Saakashvili, who was the creator of an oppressive, murderous system, was awarded with something in the field of human rights. Is not this a mockery of our people?! Is not this unbelievable?! Uou remember Breivik in Norway, who killed a lot of people. It's almost the same if some country gave Breivik the same. It's the same for me. Mikheil Saakashvili is convicted for his participation in the Girgvliani case, his regime was a murderous regime," Gharibashvili said.
For information, the third president of Georgia, Mikheil Saakashvili, was awarded a prize for fighting for human rights and democracy. The award ceremony was held in Norway. "It is a great honor for me to receive an award from a country with the highest standard of human rights and democracy, in the fight for human rights and democracy. This award from Norway should make some of our fellow citizens think, those who fell victim to the campaign against me for years. Those who consider my completely unjust and disgraceful imprisonment not a matter of democracy and human rights, but some kind of political settlement, should think about it. The fact that there is such a negative reaction to my imprisonment in the whole civilized world and positive only in the Kremlin and in the Dream should be the subject of judgment of every Georgian," Saakashvili wrote on the social network.
