Georgian people have clearly stated that they want a democratic, successful Georgia that is integrated in the Euro-Atlantic region, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said in response to a journalist's question at a briefing held in Brussels.

The Secretary General of NATO welcomes the decision of the Parliament of Georgia on the so-called draft law on agents and states that the bill does not correspond to Euro-Atlantic values.

At the same time, Stoltenberg calls on the political leaders of Georgia to work together on the necessary reforms and notes that NATO is also working with the country's government on the implementation of reforms.

"I welcome the decision of the Parliament of Georgia to drop and withdraw the draft law on foreign influence and agents because it does not correspond to Euro-Atlantic values and the protection of fundamental rights.

So, I welcome the recall of this initiative and the fact that it was not supported by the Parliament in Tbilisi. I call on the political leaders of Georgia to work together on urgently needed reforms and NATO, of course, is also working with the Georgian government on the implementation of these reforms, to strengthen democratic institutions, to strengthen democratic control over security services and to fight corruption.

The Georgian people have stated very clearly that they want a democratic, successful Georgia, which is integrated in the Euro-Atlantic region, and NATO will be a partner of such aspirations in the future," Stoltenberg said.
