External merchandise trade goes up by 12.3% in January-February

In January-February 2023 the external merchandise trade (excluding non-declared trade) of Georgia amounted to USD 2 898.2 million, 12.3% higher year-on-year, the National Statistics Service (GeoStat) reported.

 

The exports equaled USD 914.8 million (20.3% higher), while the imports stood at USD 1 983.4 million (9.0% higher). The negative trade balance was USD 1 068.6 million in JanuaryFebruary 2023 and its share in external trade turnover constituted 36.9%.

 

According to Geostat, in January-February 2023 the share of the top ten trading partners by exports in the total exports of Georgia amounted to 81.5%. The top partners were Armenia (USD 133.1 million), Russia (USD 128.2 million) and China (USD 112.4 million).

 

In January-February 2023 the share of the top ten trading partners by imports in the total imports of Georgia amounted to 68.4%. The top partners were Russia (USD 338.8 million), Türkiye (USD 322.2 million), and China (USD 134.0 million). The share of the top ten trading partners in the total external trade turnover of Georgia amounted to 68.5%. The top trading partners were Russia (USD 467.1 million), Türkiye (USD 387.0 million), and China (USD 246.4 million).
