Mikheil Kavelashvili: They crucified me when I said that the European Union was not my goal - yes, my goal is the immortality of the Georgian nation and the eternity of Georgia

Do you know why is it called Russian? Because they don't understand Georgian, Mikheil Kavelashvili, one of the leaders of People's Power, addressed the opposition at the meeting of the Legal Issues Committee, where the so-called agents draft law is being considered.

He appealed to the opposition politicians to substantiate why the said bill is Russian.

"These people do not have a motherland, they have lost it, and that's why they call the bill Russian. They can't imagine otherwise... since the EU ambassadors told them so. They crucified me when I said that the European Union was not my goal. Yes, I think that my goal is the immortality of the Georgian nation and the eternity of Georgia. For me, the European Union is a way to share things, values that I believed in. You can't stand Georgian, what does Russian have to do with it? You can't stand Georgian and that's why you call the bill Russian. Non-governmental organizations were sitting here and watching how the National Movement members were trying to disrupt the session. You see this wildness as normal. And you call me wild, who does not want the EU. If you call [the bill] Russian, you must prove that it is Russian," Kavelashvili addressed the opposition.
