Such a large-scale demarche is an indicator that the Government's position is not shared by anyone, no one believes in it - the Government's goal is political vendetta, - this is how Lelo MP Ana Natsvlishvili echoed the EU member states' demarche relating to Mikheil Saakashvili.
According to her, the only correct solution is to transfer Mikheil Saakashvili abroad for medical purposes.
"I don't remember such an unprecedented demarche. Perhaps politicians or analysts with a longer memory will remember. Such a large-scale demarche is an indicator that the Government's position is not shared by anyone, no one believes in it. It means that it is not the truth but a perception in which they want to live, and this is harmful to the state. Regarding the steps that need to be taken, it has been a long time since Lelo offered a solution to the authorities and society. Our position does not change, and the medical conclusions made during this period only confirm that what we are talking about is the only correct solution, it is transfer, not release. But transfer for medical purposes. The Government does not want to do that, and this proves that its goal is not administration of justice, but political vendetta," Natsvilishvili said.
According to the Ambassador of the European Union in Georgia, he, together with the Ambassador of Sweden, handed over the official EU demarche to the Minister of Justice of Georgia, which concerns the former president of Georgia, Mikheil Saakashvili. According to the diplomat, all 27 member states of the European Union agreed to the demarche in Brussels.
"Together with the Ambassador of Sweden, which represents the country holding the presidency of the European Union, we delivered an official demarche to the Minister of Justice. Demarche refers to the former president of Georgia, Mikheil Saakashvili. We are very concerned about the reports of his deteriorating health. What is very important is that all 27 member states of the European Union agree to this demarche," said the EU Ambassador.
