Irakli Gharibashvili: One year has passed since this devastating war in Ukraine began, the war that Russia has launched is completely unjustified

24.02.23 17:00

We talked about the developments around the region. Naturally, our conversation touched upon the Ukrainian war, - the Prime Minister of Georgia said after a meeting with President Erdogan in the Hatayprovince of Turkey.

According to Irakli Gharibashvili, the main task of the leaders of all countries should be peace in the world.

“We agree that our vision should be based on the achievement of long -term peace, in Ukraine, which will be a prerequisite for creating a solid foundation for peaceful development. The main task of the leaders of all countries should be peace in the world and we should not allow wars to continue, it should be everyone's main concern. I would also like to point out that today, February 24, one year has passed since this devastating war in Ukraine began. The war that Russia has launched is completely unjustified. You know that from the very first days of the war, the Georgian people have been standing by the Ukrainian people. We’ve hosted thousands of Ukrainians in Georgia. We show maximum support to our Ukrainian sisters and brothers. You also know that we were a co -sponsor of the UN resolution. On my instructions, the Foreign Minister is now in New York, where he participated in an UN Assembly event dedicated to the Ukrainian war, the anniversary of the war. We once again expressed our solidarity. We support Ukraine's territorial integrity and sovereignty, we want this war to end as soon as possible and peace to be restored. This is our main message. I would also like to tell you that we joined more than 400 resolutions last year. On all platforms we have provided support to our Ukrainian people. This is our main message and we were talking about these issues with President Erdogan,” the Prime Minister said.
