There is no reason for anyone to suspect that sanctions are not being enforced in Georgia - we can confidently say that Georgia is one of the leading countries in the direction of enforcement of international sanctions, - Georgian Finance Minister Lasha Khutsishvili said at a press conference.
According to him, the Government of Georgia communicates with its partners on a daily basis regarding the enforcement of sanctions.
According to Khutsishvili, the country has received many letters of gratitude for the measures it takes to ensure that the sanctions are implemented according to the established standard.
"Both the Government of Georgia and the National Bank carry out very strict control. Therefore, there is no reason for anyone to suspect that sanctions are not being enforced in Georgia. I can say unequivocally that we are in very close coordination with our partners - both the United States of America and the European Union. Information is exchanged and communicated on a daily basis. Georgia has received a lot of letters of gratitude for the measures that have been implemented in the last one year in order to enforce sanctions according to the standard that has been established. Accordingly, we can confidently say that Georgia is one of the advanced countries in the direction of enforcement of international sanctions. All the instruments that the country needs to have in this direction, both in the customs trade and in the financial direction, in relation to the banking sector, are in place and accordingly, these measures are being carried out. We are also in constant communication with the bodies and agencies that carry out appropriate control in the European Union, in Great Britain, the United States of America, and other countries that have directly imposed sanctions, and accordingly, this communication, the measures taken by Georgia, provide a guarantee that Georgia clearly fulfills its obligations", said Lasha Khutsishvili.
He also noted that tourism and export in Georgia increased more in relation to other countries of the world than in relation to Russia.
"I would like to point out that the growth of tourism and exports in Georgia was much higher without Russia than with Russia. That is, the export to the whole world increased more than it increased with respect to Russia. Also, in relation to the whole world, tourism increased more than it was observed in relation to Russia. Accordingly, in this part, it is better to rely on official statistics and draw conclusions this way ", said the Minister of Finance.
