Kazbegi Customs sends potatoes, lumber back to Russia due to noncompliance with phytosanitary norms

Employees of the Revenue Service’s Sanitary, Phytosanitary, and Veterinary Control Division discovered non-compliance with plant health and food safety requirements in 42,250 kilogrammes of potatoes imported from the Russian Federation at the “Kazbegi” customs checkpoint.

 

According to the Revenue Service of Georgia’s Ministry of Finance, phytosanitary stopped 69,867 cubic metres of lumber at the same customs checkpoint while carrying out legal control procedures. The consignment of plant origin failed to meet phytosanitary standards.

 

The above goods were subject to return to the exporting nation in compliance with Georgian Government Resolution N463.
