According to Giorgi Vashadze, the leader of the Strategy Builder, the Alliance of European Liberals and Democrats (ALDE) adopted a resolution that recognized the European perspective of Georgia and confirmed that Georgia must comply with the 12 points established by the European Commission.
At the same time, Giorgi Vashadze called on the President to pardon ex-president Mikheil Saakashvili and the founder of Main Channel Nika Gvaramia, to ease this difficult situation and "really go towards the European Union".
"If we had a European government, it would absolutely possible for Georgia to become a full member of the European Union in 3-4 years, just like Ukraine and Moldova. This is exactly what the ALDE resolution contains specific appeals and messages for. 1. Full support for Georgia's candidate status, but all 12 out of 12 recommendations should be fully implemented. 2. For the first time, it is directly and clearly stated what prevents Georgia from getting the candidate status, it is the messages characteristic of the Russian disinformation campaign, spread by Georgian Dream and specifically its leader, Irakli Kobakhidze, insulting attacks on our European partners, MEPs, European institutions and also, the systematic repetition of the messages of the Russian FSB regarding dragging Georgia into the war, which prevents Georgia from receiving the candidate status for the European Union. Also, the direct call is that de-oligarchization means reducing Ivanishvili's influence on the judicial, executive and legislative authorities. 3. ALDE will start working to restrict the right of people, who systematically violate human rights in Georgia under the cover of Georgian Dream, to move across the European Union. For example, one of such persons is the head of the radical group Alt Info, Konstantine Morgosia. In addition, in fact, there is a direct message to all the judges of the "clan" that if they continue like this, the doors of the European Union will be closed", said Vashadze.
In addition, according to him, the resolution talks about the release of ex-president Mikheil Saakashvili and the request towards President Salome Zurabishvili to pardon Mikheil Saakashvili and Nika Gvaramia.
"I am addressing the President of Georgia, it is not time for expert assessments, it is time for concrete, effective steps to be taken by the President's institution. You have a pardon mechanism to ease this difficult situation and really move towards the European Union. Ms. Salome, it's your turn, pardon these two people so that concrete steps are taken towards the integration into the European Union", Vashadze said.
