I wouldn't even call it biased, it's a direct political interest that specific MEPs have and then they manage to make their own records at the level of the European Parliament or the Foreign Affairs Committee, chairman of Georgian Dream, Irakli Kobakhidze, told Rustavi 2 TV.
As Kobakhidze noted, individual MEPs feel responsible for Mikheil Saakashvili, because they knew about Saakashvili's plans, and of course, these people support each other.
"Specific odious MEPs have their own political interest, this is simply the "global war party", while here we have the "local war party", and of course, they support each other. This is very simple logic actually. Everyone knows very well, we have talked to all of them, at different times, in different formats. In fact, everyone knows very well who Mikheil Saakashvili is. They met Saakashvili before he came to Georgia and these odious MEPs justified his return. One of the reasons why they are defending Saakashvili now is that they feel responsible because they were involved in this man's arrival in Georgia. Now they have a responsibility, they must defend hm. But let's leave all this aside, in other words, these people know everything very well. Kubilius was justifying Saakashvili until 2012, he knew very well what bloody regime he had established and he was its protector. He knew and protected it. Even after 2012, he knows very well who these people are, Saakashvili, Gvaramia, Kezerashvili, Chuta, etc. But they have a specific political interest, this is a global war party, here is a local war party, and there is a convergence of interests," said Kobakhidze.
In addition, Kobakhidze spoke about Bidzina Ivanishvili and noted that Georgian Dream not only did not take any money from Bidzina Ivanishvili, but also does not need it.
"As for Bidzina Ivanishvili, I will say directly that we have not received any money from him during all these years, nor do we need it. We are self-sufficient, we absolutely have the resources we receive through donations, both during the election and non-election periods," he said.
According to Kobakhidze, even if we imagine hypothetically that there is a telephone communication with Ivanishvili, and the MEPs call it oligarchic interference and influence, it is laughable.
"He did not finance the party or any politician or any other entity with any money. It would appear otherwise. We neither receive nor need financial resources. Therefore, it is not clear what might be meant by this influence. In fact, everyone knows very well that our party and the entire political force is self-sufficient in terms of funding. During the election and non-election period, we have sufficient private funding in the form of donations, which is fully sufficient to finance both elections and running costs. And secondly, let's assume that telephone communication is actually happening, just to imagine. If they call it oligarchic interference and influence, it is laughable. Bidzina Ivanishvili should thank each of these odious MEPs for being recognized as a genius. It turns out that a person calls the Prime Minister or the party chairman once a month or once in three months and manages to control the entire state by phone calls, to say the least, this is ridiculous," said Irakli Kobakhidze.
