Levan Davitashvili on reports about transfer of forest to Ivanishvili’s wife: This is false information, it is only possible to lease forest and I am sure that this has happened in full compliance with legislation

This is another false information. Forests are not transferred to anyone in Georgia - this is how the Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Levan Davitashvili answered a question asked by a journalist, according to which Bidzina Ivanishvili's wife received forest into her ownership, but before it, she put a 25-meter-high roof on it.

As the Minister explained, forest-related issues are regulated by the Forest Code and Georgian legislation.

"Your information is not true at all. If there is any other, specific question, clarify it", Levan Davitashvili told the journalist.

To the additional question of whether the state gives everyone the right to reshape forest until it officially becomes their property, the Minister answered: "It seems you want to disrupt the conference... I will answer you once again so that the public understands clearly that your information is not correct - it is a lie. According to the legislation in Georgia, the transfer of forest is not allowed. It can only happen in certain cases when the Government makes the relevant decision. In other cases, such a thing cannot happen – no such a thing has happened.

As for the lease, yes, it is possible to lease the Georgian forest fund for certain purposes, and I am sure that this has happened in full compliance with legislation," said Levan Davitashvili.
