The meeting of the National Security Council, led by Prime Minister of Georgia, Irakli Gharibashvili, was held.

According to the Government Administration, important trends in the global and regional security environments and challenges facing Georgia were discussed at the meeting.

As the Administration notes, the process of updating national-level conceptual documents was also discussed.

"Notably, as of February 2022, the final version of the National Security Concept was ready to be referred to the Parliament. Due to the drastically changing security environment, however, work is underway on the document’s compatibility with the existing security environment.

In parallel, active work is also in full swing on upgrading the Threat Assessment Document and the National Defense Strategy, which will also reflect the changed security environment and existing challenges.

The meeting’s participants also discussed the ongoing reform and the development of a conceptual and legal framework in the area of critical infrastructure defense. Among others, attention was paid to the process of putting together sectoral lists of critical infrastructure.

The participants of the meeting led by the Prime Minister included Secretary of the Council/Interior Minister Vakhtang Gomelauri and the council’s permanent members: Defense Minister Juansher Burchuladze, Finance Minister Lasha Khutsishvili, Foreign Minister Ilia Darchiashvili, Head of the State Security Service Grigol Liluashvili, Head of the Intelligence Service Shalva Lomidze, and Chief of the Defense Forces Giorgi Matiashvili," reads the statement.
