In July 2022, border crossings (entry, exit) of Georgia were carried out 2,000,107 times according to the border points.
As IPN was informed by the Ministry of Internal Affairs, 25% of them were crossings of Georgian citizens, and 75% - of foreign citizens. Most of the border crossings are recorded at the Sarfi customs checkpoint. In particular, entry - 286,944; departure - 295,768. At the Kazbegi checkpoint, 225,074 arrivals and 156,882 departures were recorded in the same period. As for Tbilisi Airport, in July 2022, 186,064 citizens entered, and 172,715 people left.
More specifically, according to the information provided by the Ministry, in July 2022, 790,673 foreign citizens entered Georgia, of which 525,756 citizens stayed in the country for more than 24 hours; 146,828 transits were also carried out.
According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Russia, Armenia, Turkey, Saudi Arabia, Israel and Belarus are the first six countries according to the number of border crossings (entry). In particular, in July 2022, 236,734 people from the Russian Federation entered Georgia, while in July 2021, 44,280 Russian citizens visited the country. According to the data of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the percentage increased by 435% in July of this year compared to the same period of the previous year. After Russia, the largest number of citizens who entered the country in July 2022 were from Armenia, in particular, 153,129 people (in July 2021 - 28,170; the increase is 444%); In July 2022, 107,906 Turkish citizens visited Georgia (in July 2021 - 38,464, an increase of 181%); 45,163 people entered from Saudi Arabia in the same period (in July 2021 - 17,500, increase - 158%); 27,500 citizens entered from Israel, which is 48% more compared to the previous year (in July 2021, 18,597 people from Israel entered Georgia). A 107% increase was recorded in the data of visitors from Belarus. In particular, according to the data of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the arrival of 27,381 Belarusian citizens was recorded in July 2022, which is 107% more than the previous year (13,243 visits from Belarus to Georgia were recorded in July 2021).
In addition, according to the information provided by the Ministry, in July 2022, the arrival of 43,212 citizens from EU countries was recorded, which is a 47% increase compared to the same period of the previous year (29,303 visits were recorded in July 2021).
The ranking of countries (after the first six) by the number of crossings (entry), as of July 2022, is: Ukraine, Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, Islamic Republic of Iran, India, Germany, Poland, USA, Uzbekistan, Jordan, United Arab Emirates, France, Kuwait, Great Britain, Greece, Netherlands, Latvia, Philippines, Syria, Pakistan.
According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the largest number of citizens of foreign countries who have crossed the border of Georgia are in the age category of 31-45 years.
Regarding border crossing by Georgian citizens, according to the information provided by the Ministry of Internal Affairs, in July 2022, 247,893 Georgian citizens crossed the border, and 242,699 Georgian citizens entered the country. The figures for the same period of 2021 are as follows: entry 73 770, and exit 81 411.
