According to the State Minister of for Reconciliation and Civil Equality, Tea Akhvlediani, the sacrifice made by the Shindisi heroes further increases our commitment "to do our best to strengthen and maintain peace for the strengthening and development of the country".

 

As Akhvlediani told journalists at the Shindisi memorial, the battle of Shindisi is one of the most outstanding episodes in the history of the August 2008 war.

 

"The battle of Shindisi is one of the most remarkable episodes of heroism in the history of the August 2008 war, but also one of the worst, with the loss of 17 young men in an unequal fight with the Russian army.

 

I would like to once again offer my condolences to the families of the heroes of Georgia and wish them strength and endurance in dealing with incurable pain.

 

I cannot but say that today, the sacrifice made by the Shindisi heroes further increases our faith in hope for the future and our commitment to do our best to strengthen and maintain peace for the strengthening and development of the country", said Tea Akhvlediani.
