The Georgian Patriarchate states that the conversation between the Catholicos Patriarch Ilia II and the Prime Minister of Georgia Irakli Gharibashvili did not concern the issue of Mikheil Saakashvili. The statement is issued by the Public Relations Service of the Georgian Patriarchate.

The patriarchate said in a statement that it was pleased that Saakashvili had been taken to hospital to improve his health.

"Speaking to journalists on May 15, 2022, Metropolitan Nikoloz (Pachuashvili) of Akhalkalaki, Kumurdo and Kari commented on the transfer of President Mikheil Saakashvili to the hospital, noting that this was the result of a meeting between the Prime Minister of Georgia Irakli Gharibashvili and the Catholicos of All Georgia.

The Georgian Patriarchate is pleased that in order to improve Mr. Mikheil's health, he was taken to a hospital to receive proper medical care. However, we note that the conversation between the Catholicos-Patriarch and the Prime Minister did not address this issue and, thus, this meeting did not become the reason for the above," the statement said.
