Irakli Kobakhidze: When such statements are made by the Ukrainian authorities and a number of politicians, a legitimate suspicion arises that they want to drag Georgia into the military conflict

According to Irakli Kobakhidze, chairman of the Georgian Dream party, the statements that Georgia has deviated from its foreign policy are groundless speculation.

As Kobakhidze told reporters, the statements raise a legitimate suspicion that some people want to drag Georgia into a military conflict with Russia, which would be fatal for the country.

"As for the speculations about the foreign policy, it is groundless speculation.

As for the second front, we would like to remind you that there is a coordinated action in Georgia. There are specific people, the National Movement with its internal and external speakers, who make statements about the war and the second front. You probably remember, for example, the statements by Margvelashvili and Usupashvili, the statements by Lomjaria and Gigauri and also, the statements by their so-called external speakers.

Persistent statements are made by the Ukrainian authorities that a "second front" should be opened in Georgia, including by the Secretary of the Security Council of Ukraine, who said today that the Russian army is busy with killing Ukrainian women and children and it would be good if they have to deal with another country. He meant Georgia. When such statements are made by the Ukrainian authorities and a number of politicians, we see coordination both here and there, a legitimate suspicion arises that there may be a wider interest in dragging Georgia into this military conflict, which will be fatal for our country. Therefore, we must not allow this.

As for the country's foreign policy, it is unshakable, reflected in the constitution, documents, including parliamentary resolutions. Therefore, any statement regarding foreign policy is empty speculation,” Kobakhidze said.
