According to Prime Minister of Georgia, Irakli Gharibashvili, a thousand-apartment police town will be built on Jikia Street in Tbilisi.

Gharibashvili said a square meter will be available for police officers for USD 100 and the rest will be covered by the state.

In addition, as the Prime Minister said at the Government meeting, all existing police buildings will be rehabilitated and new ones will be built.

"It is my great wish and together with the Minister we decided that will build a thousand-apartment town for our hero police officers. We will start the project this year. Preparatory works have started. A location has also been selected - Mr. Vakhtang's idea was to carry out the project on Jikia Street, where a special police base was located, it will be relocated to a different place. A police town will be built, as we built it for soldiers, during my tenure at the Ministry - a thousand-apartment town for troops, which will be completed in September. The conditions will be the same as for the army - our policemen will pay the equivalent of about USD 100 per square meter in GEL. The rest will be covered by the state. I think this should continue and should be an additional motivator for police officers. It is our duty to respect the people who sacrifice themselves for our people and our country.

In addition, it is planned to renovate all police buildings, renovate all bases of the special tasks department and bring them to a single standard. Also, works will start in the Border Police. We will build new sectors, renovate the existing ones. So, we will bring it to a single, European standard. As the population grew, so did the need to build new police buildings. We have new projects planned, including in the regions, new police buildings and bases will be built. The cost of these works is 300-350 million GEL. We want it all to be over in three years. The works should start this year as well," Irakli Gharibashvili said.

The Prime Minister also spoke about the projects planned in the field of defence and said that this year the construction of the so-called Mukhrovani base will start, which will be one of the most exemplary bases of modern special operations.

In addition, according to the Prime Minister, a cadet lyceum will be built in Tbilisi.

"I would like to single out several projects of the Ministry of Defence. First, it is the construction of a new modern base of special operations forces. We want the Mukhrovani base to be one of the most exemplary bases in the region. We are talking about large-scale works. It will start this year and will be completed in the next 2-3 years. We will have one of the most exemplary, modern special operations bases.

We also want to build a cadet lyceum in eastern Georgia. There is one lyceum in Kutaisi, which is very popular among the population. We want to build a similar one in Tbilisi, Krtsanisi district. It will be an important educational center for educating young people in a military, patriotic spirit.

We also want to start active work on the concept of a military museum," Irakli Gharibashvili said.
